Presidential Candidates' Debates to Go Live

Debates of candidates for presidency in Belarus will be held from 17:00 to 18:00 on December 4-5 in the First National TV Channel. This was stated by the chairman of the Central Election Commission Lidia Yermoshina on November 18. According to her, debates will be broadcast live. "This is the wish of the majority of members of the election campaign," she explained.

At the same time, the CEC Chairman said that if a candidate wants to be broadcast in record, he can submit an application to the CEC.

Also the order of candidates’ speeches on television was determined by the draw on November 18. The first speaker was Viktor Tereshchenko, followed by Yaroslav Romanchuk, Vladimir Niakliaeu, Alexander Lukashenko, Ales Michalevic, Vital Rymasheuski, Dmitri Uss, Nikolai Statkevich, Rigor Kastuseu and Andrei Sannikov.

As Telegraf previously reported, candidates’ speeches will be held from November 22 to December 3: from 19:00 to 20:00 on TV on weekdays, when most voters are back home from work, and from 6:00 to 7:10 on the radio, when most people are still at home before leaving for work.
