Belarus has no restrictions on the free Internet use. This was stated by the Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko during a meeting on the state and prospects of oncological aid in Belarus on October 26. The president noted that nobody closes access to the Internet in the country. "It's hardly to close today!", head of State said.

«How do I prevent Zalutsky (Joseph Zalutsky — MD, professor, NAS member in Belarus — Telegraf) from entering the site of the Russian president, a blogger, and from reading the dirty libel about his Belarusian counterpart? No ban! He’ll enter the site and will read. Or other sites and pages,» BelTA quoted the head of state.

At the same time Alexander Lukashenko added that today even the five-year children use the Internet confidently. «Therefore, it is nonsense,» the President of Belarus concluded.

Belarusian leader also touched on the whole development of the Internet in the country. According to the President, when «we’ve got down to the Internet, we realized our opportunities.»

«And today I am criticized for the Internet order not because it’s a kind of dictatorship, but because we take millions of dollars away from those who once enjoyed and took an advantage over our situation, including geographical, and our opportunities, who stuffed their pockets before,» Alexander Lukashenko said. «Today we have clearly turned it into the country,» the president added.

According to Telegraf, regulations of the Belarusian segment of internet are provided by the decree № 60 «On measures to improve use of the national segment of the Internet», which was signed on February 1, 2010.
