Levinau Convicted "for Ribaldry" Declared Hunger Strike

Frunzenski Minsk court sentenced a member of the Belarusian Helsinki Committee, Pavel Levinau from Vitsebsk to a ten-day administrative detention on charges of disorderly conduct — using foul language. A lawyer went on hunger strike as a protest. This was reported by human rights activists in the social network Tweeter.

Pavel Levinau was cleared of involvement in the terrorist attack, happened in Minsk on April 11, reports the Belarusian Helsinki Committee.

As Telegraf previously reported, April 19, Minsk police arrested Pavel Levinau, journalists Oleh Borschevski and Valeri Shchukin, as well as the leader of the campaign «Our House» Olha Karach on suspicion of involvement in the terrorist attack on April 11 in Minsk subway.

Oleh Borschevski was sentenced to ten days of administrative arrest, Olha Karach —  a fine of 20 basic units (Br700 thousand). They were convicted of disorderly conduct.
