Belarus' Prime Minister, Sergei Sidorsky, demanded the government and local authorities to intensify the work on business development in towns and small cities. Prime Minister stated about that on August 24 at a meeting of Presidium of the Council of Ministers. "In general, in the Republic there have created necessary conditions for successful business development, a lot of steps to liberalize economy have been made", Sergei Sidorsky noted.
«However, if in cities and regional centers business activity grows, then in small cities and towns business does not develop fast enough», Prime Minister said, BelTA informs.
Referring primarily to the heads of regional executive committees, Sergei Sidorsky underlined: «Today, it is unacceptable to deal only with common approaches. We must go to the province and see why business does not develop there. We see only parasitism there so far. However, it is clear that in regions of Belarus there are enough active men of business and we must give them an opportunity to build their own business».
To solve these issues, Sergei Sidorsky suggested local authorities to communicate more actively with representatives of business community, entrepreneurs working in small cities and towns, because basing on experience they could give good advice to improve regulatory framework, as well as on other issues of business organization. «You have to gather businessmen, to see why cafes, restaurants, roadside service facilities, farms are not being built. You may have to see what is wrong with documents. We must discuss these issues with business community», Sergei Sidorsky said.
Furthermore, at a meeting of the Presidium of the Council of Ministers there were examined the outcomes of implementation of State complex program to develop regions of small and medium towns in 2007-2010 in H1 2010. Belarusian Prime Minister stressed that the outcomes of program’s implementation this year indicated that not everybody was aware of responsibility for the execution of the program.
