Registration of candidates for presidency will be held on November 18. This was stated by the chairman of the Central Commission for Elections Lidia Yermoshina at a meeting with international observers OSCE / ODIHR on November 15 . According to her, the CEC is now verifying the declarations of income and assets of potential candidates.

CEC has already sent declarations for verification to the competent authorities, including the Department of Securities, Department of Taxation, law enforcement agencies and the Organization for Registration of Real Estate, Lidia Yermoshina said, BelTA informs.

She also noted that 10 out of 11 people, submitted documents to the CEC, had a real chance to be registered as candidates.

Candidates’ Presentations to be Held during November 22-December 3, CEC

According to Lidia Yermoshina, a draw will take place after the registration of candidates, which will determine the airtime for  each of them. Their performances will be held from November 22 to December 3: on air — from 19:00 to 20:00 on weekdays, when most voters are back at home after work, and from 6:00 to 7:10 on the radio, when most people are still at home before work.

The CEC head noted that the current election campaign is provided with the prime time for candidates by the National Broadcasting Company. In its view, chosen time intervals are more preferable in comparison with 2006, when the candidates were to speak from 8:00 to 9:00 on the radio and from 18:00 to 19:00 on TV.

Lidia Yermoshina also touched upon the possibility of candidates’ participation in TV debates. According to her, it is now being discussed with the National Television and Radio to change the format of televised debates and hold them live, but not recorded as  it’s been planned before. «All the organizational issues will be resolved» until November 26, which is the deadline for submission of applications by candidates to participate in televised debates, the CEC head said.
