Chairman of the Minsk city branch of United Civil Party, Anatoly Pavlov believes that participation in the upcoming election has no sense. "If people are not included in the electoral commission, candidates have no sense to fight, because it will be a one-sided game. Thus, the authorities would legitimate themselves once again ," — said the politician.

The politician stressed that the party will continue to collect signatures for candidates and carry out preparatory work. «If representatives of democratic forces were in the election and could cover at least 20%, then the work would be extrapolated to the entire electoral process. Of course, the government does not want to admit it,» — said the representative of the UCP.

«Our country has a paradoxical system — election commissions are created by executive branch, not the CEC, which is to work professionally in this field and to create their own vertical with party activists, public institutions, labor groups», — said Anatoly Pavlov, the human rights center Viasna reports.

«The principle of including people in the commission is unclear. They are not candidates who have experience in election work, they are most» harmless» people, who «do not possess the political acumen», — said the chairman of the Minsk city organization.

«On formation of electoral commissions, for example, two 25-year members of the Social Democrats were refused, saying the guys have not enough experience. And then the committee included representatives of the Belarusian Republican Youth Union, which are much younger. That’s it. Nothing good will happen finally, it will be as always — the election without elections «, — oppositionist is sure.
