"Belarusian Disneyland" to be Constructed in Minsk

Minsk authorities intend to build a unique cultural and entertainment facility, which has been already nicknamed as Belarusian Disneyland, in the neighborhoods of Chizhovka. It was reported at an operational meeting in the mayor's office by the acting Chairman of Minsk city executive committee, Nikolai Ladutko.

«There will be a kind of Disneyland area — we’ll build «Chizhovka Arena» cultural and entertainment and sports complex, the third part of the zoo, «Belarusian Heritage» ethno-cultural center, the park of 900th anniversary of Minsk will gain a new ideology of development», acting Mayor of Minsk said, BelTA informs.

As Nikolai Ladutko stressed, Minsk authorities expect that in addition to its modernity and attractiveness the recreation area will be profitable and will bring incomes to the city.

«Chizhovka Arena» complex will accommodate seven thousand spectators, will be able to host hockey games at international level, there will be facilities for various sports activities, and it will be also used for concerts.

In «Belarusian Heritage» center, which is to be created around the zoo in the territory of 35 hectares, there will be a unique open-air museum, which, according to the architects, is being created on entirely new and original design, «which the capital’s never had».

There will be located knightly palaces, bakeries, a mill, thematic areas and pavilions and other facilities, which will tell of all periods in the life of Belarus, from the Middle Ages and ending with XIX century.

The construction of engineering and transport infrastructure of «Belarusian Heritage» ethno cultural center should begin in 2011.
