In the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Belarus stated that with the entry into force of the Customs Union Belarus' budget loses "large amount of money in the form of customs and tax charges". According to the ministry's experts, this is caused by involvement of goods from third countries, smuggled into the territory of Belarus, into economic turnover.
«There is every reason to believe that possibility of free movement of these goods within the Customs Union may exacerbate the problem. It is possible that the development of integration processes would lead to the creation of new criminal schemes engaging business structures of two or more countries, fake documents use», reported in Interior Ministry of Belarus.
The ministry’s specialists pay attention to the possible activization of attempts to transport through the border tobacco and alcoholic goods, alcohol-containing liquids aimed at the production of cheap counterfeit alcohol. «It is possible the organization of channels of illegal export of goods containing precious and expansive rare earth and non-ferrous metals from the territory of the Customs Union’s countries for the sale in the EU», added in Interior Ministry.
The MIA promises to protect the interests of Belarusian in the Customs Union
However, in Belarus’ Interior Ministry they stated that the level of interaction of interior bodies of the Republic of Belarus with law enforcement authorities of Russia and Kazakhstan was developing quite rapidly, positive experience of cooperation was growing constantly, and it «allows to say that rights, freedoms and legitimate interests of citizens of the three states will be protected».
The meeting of the ministers of internal affairs of the Customs Union, scheduled for August 24 to be held in Astana, is to strengthen the interaction of law enforcement agencies of the CU countries to combat crime.
The event will be opened by the heads of delegations — minister of internal affairs of Belarus, Kazakhstan and Russia, Anatoly Kuleshov, Serik Baimaganbetov and Rashid Nurgaliyev. The same day, there scheduled their meeting with the president of Kazakhstan, Nursultan Nazarbayev.
At the meeting, the sides will discuss the issues to finalize legal framework of cooperation, as well as to improve the efficiency of joint combat organized crime and criminal car business, violations in economy, drug trafficking and illegal migration.
The gathered to be focused on possible negative tendencies in criminal situation’s development related to the formation of customs union of Belarus, Kazakhstan and Russia.
On August 23, one day before the meeting of interior ministers of the Customs Union’s states, in Uralsk (Kazakhstan), there took place a working meeting with the participation of the heads of delegations, as well as top-officials of internal affairs bodies, customs and border structures of frontier regions.
