Wednesday, April 6, the Belarusian law enforcement agencies detained Andrzej Poczobut, a correspondent of Polish Gazeta Wyborcza, in Hrodna. The journalist was going to Minsk to participate in a videoconference with MEPs. He managed to inform his colleagues about having been taken to the regional prosecutor's office.

Poczobut’s both mobile phones are currently unavailable.

Pochobut was prosecuted in late March on charges of insulting President Alexander Lukashenko.

As reported by the journalist himself, it is unclear yet what the insult to the Belarusian leader is; at the prosecutor’s office he was only presented with the titles of articles, allegedly containing «insults and allegations against Lukashenko.»
