Lukashenko Assured Ukraine of his "Warm Feelings"

May 19, President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko met with Prime Minister Mykola Azarov. "Belarus as always remains true to its principles; as well as a reliable ally to our brotherly Ukraine. We have very good, warm feelings towards your country, your people," said the president.

«I want to assure that any proposals of Ukraine for the benefit of our countries will be supported, adopted and implemented without fail,» stressed the Belarusian leader, and expressed willingness to cooperate with Ukraine in all areas, BelTA informs.

«We are ready to defend our mutual interests with Ukraine,» said Alexander Lukashenko and asked him to convey assurance to his counterpart, Viktor Yanukovych, that Belarus has always been and will remain true to its principles in its relations with brotherly Ukraine.»

As Telegraf previously reported, the president of Belarus said in late April that the Ukrainian leadership «lousy.» A Ukrainian Ambassador to Belarus Roman Bezsmertni said in response that a sharp statement of the Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko about the Ukrainian leadership would affect the relationship between the two countries «without any doubt.»
