The Ministry of Culture of Belarus took the order "About carrying out the contest for the conceptual design of the monument to Yanka Kupala and Yakub Kolas in Warsaw." Competition is organized by the Ministry of Culture and the Belarusian State Academy of Arts, the Belarusian Union of Artists. The Ministry of Culture informed the Telegraf in question.
Its aim is to search for the best version of the draft monument to be installed in the park «Morskoe Oko» in Warsaw. Sketch plan should transmit the images of Yanka Kupala and Yakub Kolas more clearly and accurately on the basis of historical information about the life and works of the writers. Only the sculptors with appropriate professional education may participate in the competition.
According to the Ministry, composite and plastic response of the monument should be done in the best traditions of classical and national monumental art. Materials, used to create the monument, should be bronze and granite.
Contest materials must be submitted on a hard tablet, have a small explanatory note to justify the proposed development, visualization, architectural and plastic solution of the monument and model of the monument on the scale.
In order to preserve the anonymity of the authors, the materials are submitted under the three-digit number that appears on all materials, as well as on the copyright envelope.
Request to participate in the competition must be submitted by October 29, 2010 at the following address: Minsk, Prospect winners, 11 or by e-mail: artpalac@mail with the title «Application for the contest.»
The application should contained a photo of the monument model, made in the format ipg no larger than 800-600 dpi. Contest materials must be submitted by the authors on November 8, 2010 by 17:00 at the address: Minsk, Independence Avenue, 81, a gallery of the Belarusian State Academy of Arts. Contest materials are considered by the members of the competition committee at a closed meeting on November 10, 2010. The winner gets the right to create the monument.
