A large-scale, comprehensive inspection has commenced within the Armed Forces of Belarus. The head of state initiated it, promising to personally inspect select military units. According to the State Secretary of the Security Council, Alexander Volfovich, the inspection itself is “sudden” and unannounced.

As Volfovich explained to the BELTA agency, the President of Belarus, Alexander Lukashenko, demanded an inspection of the security of Belarusian military units and their readiness to counter modern means of attack, particularly unmanned aerial vehicles.

«The inspection will be comprehensive and consist of several stages. The inspection activities are of a sudden nature,» stated Volfovich.

According to him, Lukashenko personally approved the «concept» of the inspection, which is to be carried out «taking into account the experience of the special military operation» in neighbouring Russia.

First on the inspectors’ list is a technical support unit, one of the largest units in the Belarusian army, where armoured vehicle weapons and numerous military hardware are stored. Precisely which military unit Lukashenko will visit personally has not been disclosed. Volfovich also did not specify the exact timeframe of the current sudden inspection.

It should be noted that until today, 16 January, the Ministry of Defence has been conducting a scheduled command-staff exercise under the direction of the head of the country’s General Staff, Pavel Muraveyko.
