Belarusians to Get Four-Day Weekend in December 2025, With a Catch
Belarusians will enjoy a rare four-day weekend in December 2025, but will have to work on a Saturday earlier in the month to compensate, the country’s labour ministry has confirmed.
The long weekend stems from the Christmas holiday, which is observed on Thursday, December 25. The authorities have also declared Friday, December 26, a day off, creating a consecutive break that includes the regular Saturday and Sunday (December 27-28).
However, to make up for the extra day off on Friday, December 26, employees will be required to work on the preceding Saturday, December 20. This means that for one week in December, many will have only a single day off – Sunday, December 21.
The labour ministry clarified that the working Saturday on December 20 would not apply to employees who are on annual leave during the long weekend. However, those on business trips or attending training courses would be required to work.
