The Minsk city authorities have announced plans to construct a new bypass road aimed at reducing traffic load on the city’s overloaded ring road (MKAD), with completion slated for the end of 2026.

The chairman of the Minsk City Executive Committee, Vladimir Kukharev, stated that construction is planned to begin in January and continue until the end of 2026. The road will connect the industrial area of Kolyadichi with the second ring road (MKAD-2), allowing trucks from the industrial zone to bypass the MKAD and proceed directly to their destinations.

«Therefore, a decision was made to build a bypass road from Kolyadichi so that heavy-goods vehicles can proceed directly to the MKAD-2,» Kukharev said.

In turn, Alexei Shcherbach, director of the Minsk Directorate for Capital Construction «West,» provided details, specifying that the road will be a two-lane highway with a length of 5.5 kilometres. The project will include sidewalks and pedestrian access to railway stations for residents of the agro-town of Gatovo from the Kolyadichi industrial hub.

«The road will start from Babushkina Street, run along the railway line, and exit onto the N9034 road in the agro-town of Gatovo,» Shcherbach explained.

The report follows earlier coverage by Telegraf.news that one of the largest road construction projects in Belarus in recent years has launched in full swing in the Gomel region—the reconstruction of the M10 highway. A new, reportedly one of the most complex, stage of the project has now begun.
