Four stations of the Belarusian Railway (BZhD) added to the international transport corridor linking Russia with the EU
Four more stations of the Belarusian Railway (BZhD) have been added, as of this November, to the international transport corridor connecting European Union countries with Russia. This was reported in recent days by the Council for Rail Transport of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) member states.
The following railway stations have been included in the routes of international container trains:
- • Zadneprovskaya in Mogilev,
- • Mogilev II,
- • Shabany in Minsk,
- • Pinsk.
Export freight from Pinsk and Mogilev II station will travel via seaports adjacent to the Novy Port station of the Oktyabrskaya Railway and the Novorossiysk station of the North Caucasian Railway. Container freight from the capital’s Shabany station will be routed to Biklyan station on the Kuibyshev Railway (Republic of Tatarstan). The route via the Mogilev station Zadneprovskaya will lead to stations within the Moscow and St. Petersburg railway hubs.
The Council’s press service expressed confidence that adding the extra railway stations to the international transport corridor will enable freight carriers to avoid delays en route for sorting and to adhere strictly to the schedule.
As noted by the publication Office Life, Russia increased its own tariffs for rail freight and passenger transport from 1 December by an average of 10%. BZhD, however, has so far decided not to raise its tariffs, keeping them unchanged for 2026.
Authorities in Belarus and Russia have previously stated plans to align freight rail transportation tariffs by 2026.
