Economist Leonid Zlotnikov, commenting on results of the EurAsEC summit in Astana, expressed an opinion that Belarus would not get big gain from joining the Customs Union. However, the expert believes that "if there cancelled limitations on delivery of Russian goods in Belarus, then our industry will lose".

According to the economist, in Russia there have accumulated five times more foreign direct investment per capita than in Belarus, especially in the sphere of household appliances production, BelaPAN informs.

Leonid Zlotnikov named the Customs Union a closed space, where the average level of import duties is about 10%. However, in developed countries, it is several times lower, the expert noted. «This closed space will limit the flow of new technology, cheap foreign parts, quality equipment», the expert believes.

Furthermore, Leonid Zlotnikov called as positive moment the competition within the Common Economic Space. «Even if our enterprises and economy fill worse, it will accelerate the reforms», Leonid Zlotnikov is sure.

Also, according to the expert, within the CES, Belarus is no longer able to resist the free movement of Russian capital and to pursue its own economic policy.
