Belarus has offered the CIS Economic Court to apply to the Russian government to expedite its consideration of a temporary no-customs duties on petroleum products, supplied to Belarus. The continued imposition of duties, according to the Justice Ministry of Belarus, is contrary to international legal instruments, principles of good neighborliness and mutually beneficial cooperation between the two countries.

As it’s become known to Telegraf, the Ministry of Justice  informed the EC of the CIS that the government of Belarus had addressed the Russian government on 18 October 2010. While the economic dispute isn’t yet resolved by the court, the Belarusian side suggested canceling of the illegal collection of duties on petroleum products, supplied to Belarus, introduced by the Teletype of the Russian Federal Customs Service, and contrary to a number of treaties and agreements.

The answer has not been received so far, the Justice Ministry of Belarus underlined.

According to Telegraf, on October 8 the CIS Economic Court (EC) recommended Russia to cancel duties on petroleum products to Belarus for three months until the issue is resolved (January 19, 2011).
